Frequently asked questions.

How can counseling with Abundant Family Therapy help me or my child?

Counseling offers numerous benefits for young adults and children. It provides a safe and confidential space for individuals to express their thoughts and emotions without judgment. Through counseling, young adults and children can develop essential coping skills to manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges they may face. It also allows them to explore their feelings, gain self-awareness, and build self-esteem. Counseling can improve communication skills, enhance relationships with others, and promote personal growth and development. Overall, counseling equips young adults and children with the tools they need to navigate life's difficulties and thrive in their journey towards emotional well-being, guiding them towards a path of healing and empowerment. Our counseling services can also help parents gain confidence, new skills, and a renewed sense of purpose as they parent their children.

I can handle my own issues. Do I really need a therapist?

Navigating life's challenges can be overwhelming, and sometimes we need extra support to cope and grow. Whether it's struggling with anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, or simply feeling lost, therapy can provide a safe space to explore these feelings and develop healthy coping mechanisms. For children and adolescents, therapy can help build resilience, improve communication skills, and enhance self-esteem. Seeking therapy is a brave and important step towards healing and finding joy in life's journey.

What is Therapy like?

The therapy process at Abundant Family Counseling involves creating a safe and welcoming environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. We work collaboratively with clients and parents to develop personalized goals and practical strategies to overcome challenges. Through a Christ-centered approach, clients are supported in deepening their faith, finding purpose, and experiencing growth. Therapy sessions provide a space for reflection, insight, and healing, allowing individuals to build resilience and cultivate a sense of hope for the future.

Commitment and consistent effort outside of therapy sessions are essential for lasting change and progress. The work done between sessions, such as practicing new skills, reflecting on insights gained, and applying coping strategies in everyday life greatly enhances the therapeutic journey. Clients who actively engage in this process outside of sessions often experience more profound results and quicker improvements in their well-being. At Abundant Family Counseling we put an emphasis on the importance of carrying over the work from therapy into daily life, as this integration ultimately leads to long-term growth and sustainable change.

Do you take insurance?

At Abundant Family Counseling, we are in-network with Parkview Signature Care and Lyra Health. We are considered out-of-network with all other insurance plans. If you would like to use out-of-network benefits, we are able to provide you with the documentation necessary, called a Superbill, to submit to your insurance company for any out-of-network benefits you are eligible for through your particular insurance plan. You are responsible for verifying your out-of-network benefits. Payment is due at the time of service. You can learn more about our rates here.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality in therapy is paramount. It creates a safe space for clients to openly share their thoughts, feelings, and struggles without fear of judgment or consequences. Trust is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, and confidentiality is essential in building and maintaining that trust. Knowing that what is discussed in therapy remains private helps clients feel secure and allows them to fully engage in the therapeutic process. At Abundant Family Counseling, we take confidentiality seriously to ensure our clients feel safe, respected, and supported on their journey to healing and growth. Our confidentiality policy and limits to confidentiality are detailed more specifically in our informed consent and privacy policy documents which you will review and sign prior to your first session.

Federal and state law including HIPAA and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following situations:

  • We are required to report past or present abuse or neglect of children or elders to the proper authorities, including Child Protection Services and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources.

  • We are required to report to the proper authorities, including law enforcement, if a client has reported they are in imminent danger of harming themselves or another person.

If you have any questions about our privacy policy, limits of confidentiality, or anything else related to therapy or our practice, we will be happy to answer them! Please reach out to us on our contact page here.
